Using Facebook “Status Updates” To Recruit Agents

What is a “status update?”

Typing in the “share’ box is a status update


Ever heard of Twitter? When people “Tweet” (post) 140 characters, that’s the same thing as a Facebook Status update. When you login to Facebook and see the home page feed, and see updates from all of your friends, that’s the Status Update feed.

Why status updates? Why even do them? Why are they important?
Here’s a common story I’m starting to hear:

Broker interviews the agent, agent says “thanks but I’ll think about it.”

Broker adds that agent as a friend on facebook, and then agent follows the status updates on Facebook.

The broker posts status updates regularly, then the agents current broker did something toupset the agent. Agent read a status update, and that put him over the edge.

The agent has now joined the company.

So: Status updates alone will never recruit an agent. But they help. They add fuel to a fire that you start with your normal recruiting efforts.

We have done multiple surveys of what brokers do to piss agents off. (Yes… we asked agents what pisses them off… we got shocking answers!)

We also asked agents what they look for in their dream real estate office.

Agents want working equipment – example status update

“Celebration! That was the 5,796th consecutive successful copy on our copy machine. It’snice to have an office with technology that ‘just works’”

“In the last week, we just paid out 13 commission checks to 13 happy agents. Each agent was thrilled to be paid on time, and have no surprises when they got their checks.”
